A first-year blooming perennial with an explosion of color, reminiscent of a colorful sunset, yet looks light and airy with its fine leaves. The flowers and silvery green foliage exude a pleasant scent when touched that reminds some of root beer, licorice or mint. Grow it where you or your pet will brush against it to release its heady fragrance. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees flock to the nectar-filled flower spikes. The leaves make a refreshing tea. A very drought-tolerant, and low-maintenance plant once established. Perennial in UDSA zones 6–9. Deer and rabbit resistant.
